CHATHAM REPUBLICAN MEET, MONDAY, DECEMBER 1, 5 P.M., CHATHAM COMMUNITY CENTER

The next meeting for Chatham Republicans is on Monday, December 1, 5 p.m., at the Chatham Community Center. We meet on the top floor in the Club Room, which is to the left of the Large Meeting Room.

Here's some of what we will cover:

1. Results of elections for U.S. Senate, Congress and all statewide offices and results of Barnstable County and Cape & Islands district elections. Chatham did well by the Republican candidates, the best in our 4th Barnstable district.

2. What we can learn from the national elections.

3. Is fraud in elections increasing? What's causing it? What's the cure? NH Senate election.

4. Early signs about a Baker administration.

5. Republican successes in the Massachusetts House and Senate.

6. The 2016 presidential elections: Who do you favor? Who do you think will be the Republican nominee? Who do you think will be the Democratic nominee?

8. Issues: Obama and immigration, Keystone pipeline, Obamacare, Ferguson

9. We need a new Treasurer since Sam Black has moved out of Chatham.

10. Recapping the activities of the Chatham Republicans throughout 2014.

We will convene promptly as 5 and aim to end promptly at 6:30.

IN THIS ELECTION, WILL THE REPUBLICAN PARTY FIGHT OR COWER IN FEAR? AGAIN.

Victor Davis Hanson sizes up the elections of 2014 and asks whether the Republicans leaders in Washington are going to fight this time or just pretend. Again.

In 2014 Republicans are going to be kamikazeed by very wealthy, highly educated, and relentless operatives in the Boston-New York-Washington, D.C., nexus, with backup from the San Diego to San Francisco bookend coastal corridor. These critics mostly rest at the top of the capitalist heap, and will assail those who are not, on grounds that they are unfair to every hyphenated group in America.

To survive, Republicans must go on the offensive and point out that their accusers never live the lives they advocate for others. Liberal feminists seem to be John Edwards and Bill Clinton. Liberal men of the people are Al Gore, John Kerry, and Jon Corzine. Their populists who deplore outsourcing, offshore accounts, and non-unions are Apple and Facebook grandees who embrace all three. White privilege is not the fate of the West Virginian or West Texan working at Target, but the tiny, inbred old-boy and old-girl world of prep-school to Ivy League to the insider pull of Dad and Mom to land up with a phoned-in job in journalism, politics, finance, entertainment, the arts, and academia on the East and West coasts, followed by pro forma praise of diversity — for others. Open-borders zealots have their children behind the walls of private academies.

Surely there is a populist case to be made — or is the Republican establishment to manage a permanent, sober, and judicious out-party, as it is demagogued to death by the privileged?

Well, whatever the Washington Republicans decided to do, we here in our corner of the world are going to give it all we have to elect fiscally sane and courageous Republicans to Congress and to the Massachusetts State House.

LINCOLN SPEAKS TO US TODAY: FIGHT TYRANNY, TAKE BACK OUR FREEDOMS

150 years ago Republican president Abraham Lincoln spoke to the American people of every generation. It would be their job to preserve freedom for all Americans from the kind of tyranny of King George that led to the American Revolution, be it wielded by national or state governments. Governments are to serve the people, not vice versa. He said it was up to "us, the living," to make sure that the government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.

Look at how our freedoms are being eroded today. Obamacare is the most glaring example of how the Democrats are robbing us of our freedoms, deliberately forcing people out of their health plans with which they were satisfied (85%!) to put them under government control. Tyrannical Democrats in state government are doing the same: New York's Governor Cuomo told New Yorkers if they don't agree with his pro-abortion, gun control and anti-marriage positions they should move out of New York. Intolerant bigotry of the left. In Massachusetts, one party tyranny means doing what it wants, no accountability, incompetence goes unpunished, fraud is not rooted out and tax increases sail through, all robbing taxpayers of their hard-earned dollars.

We need to take Lincoln's words to heart and fight back. Our Republican candidate for Governor Massachusetts Charlie Baker gets the message. At our observance on November 19th of the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, he said, "I am proud to be the heir of Abraham Lincoln and his Republican Party." We will put an end to monopolistic one party tyranny in Massachusetts.
