MASSACHUSETTS RANKS 47TH IN LONG TERM FISCAL SOLVENCY

A recent study by the highly regarded Mercatus Center at George Mason University found that Massachusetts state government under the one party Democratic rule of Governor Deval Patrick is a fiscal mess.

In long term solvency Massachusetts is one the worst five states in the nation, ranking 47th Click on the map to enlarge it.

Massachusetts state government is taxing too much, spending too much, promising too much and ignoring the buildup of unfunded liabilities for government employees' pensions and health plans. Once again, the target year for fully funding public employees' pensions has been pushed off another five years to 2030. And it's still about 50% unfunded. As for public employees' health plans, they aren't even funded at all.

In Democratic cities across the country public employees are learning they won't get their pensions as promised because they are simply unaffordable. Detroit is a prime example, but there are many more. Let's not have that happen in Massachusetts.

We need to restore fiscal common sense to Massachusetts state government by electing Charlie Baker and Karyn Polito. Charlie Baker balanced budgets without tax increases and streamlined financial operations under Governors Weld and Cellucci. He did the same thing in the private sector, rescuing a health plan from bankruptcy and making it number one in the nation.

Baker Polito can make Massachusetts great again and be known as a state that can keep the promises it makes.

LINCOLN SPEAKS TO US TODAY: FIGHT TYRANNY, TAKE BACK OUR FREEDOMS

150 years ago Republican president Abraham Lincoln spoke to the American people of every generation. It would be their job to preserve freedom for all Americans from the kind of tyranny of King George that led to the American Revolution, be it wielded by national or state governments. Governments are to serve the people, not vice versa. He said it was up to "us, the living," to make sure that the government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.

Look at how our freedoms are being eroded today. Obamacare is the most glaring example of how the Democrats are robbing us of our freedoms, deliberately forcing people out of their health plans with which they were satisfied (85%!) to put them under government control. Tyrannical Democrats in state government are doing the same: New York's Governor Cuomo told New Yorkers if they don't agree with his pro-abortion, gun control and anti-marriage positions they should move out of New York. Intolerant bigotry of the left. In Massachusetts, one party tyranny means doing what it wants, no accountability, incompetence goes unpunished, fraud is not rooted out and tax increases sail through, all robbing taxpayers of their hard-earned dollars.

We need to take Lincoln's words to heart and fight back. Our Republican candidate for Governor Massachusetts Charlie Baker gets the message. At our observance on November 19th of the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, he said, "I am proud to be the heir of Abraham Lincoln and his Republican Party." We will put an end to monopolistic one party tyranny in Massachusetts.
