Jeff Sessions: Without Ted Cruz, Amnesty Would Have Passed In 2013

Jeff Sessions: Without Ted Cruz, Amnesty Would Have Passed In 2013

Real Clear Politics, December 21, 2015

Sen. Jeff Sessions gave a full-throated defense of Sen. Ted Cruz at an event Friday in Daphne, Alabama. Cruz is facing attacks from Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, and others over technical issues regarding amendments to a 2013 immigation reform bill which never passed.

"People need to remember this, because this election is going to decide, the crowd who pushed that bill," Sessions said. "Will they be in the White House, and allowed to push their agenda, or will we have somebody else?"

"Remember after the 2006 battle, people started sending bricks to Congress, to build a wall with... The switchboards were shutdown, millions of Americans were calling. And when we finally had a vote, only 46 voted for it. The people spoke and the Congress, although it was dicey, they listened."

"In 2013 they spent a billion and a half dollars to promote this legislation, the political consultants, they had pollsters hired to spin the numbers, they had special interest groups, they met for months, the gang of eight, they were determined, it was a near on thing, it was a worse bill than the 2007 bill. It gave amnesty first... We voted more than once to build a fence, do we have a fence?"

"So it came before the Senate, and the gang of eight met every day, they also had been meeting for months with the special interests and activists, the la Raza group, the ACLU, and businesses who want more and more cheap labor."

"They had a scheme -- a plan to vote down every amendment no matter what the amendment was. They did it because they said they had achieved a delicate balance between enforcement, and they had the perfect bill... Every amendment was voted down by every Democrat and a number of Republicans. it was a tense."

"It was that close to being passed... and I think I can say this with integrity. Without the vigorous opposition of Ted Cruz, this bill likely would have passed."

CAPE COD REPUBLICANS HOLD REAGAN VICTORY 2016 RALLY. YOU'RE INVITED. SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 3:30 ON. REAGAN-STYLE BBQ, TOO!

In 2016 voters will have a chance to put an end to eight years of Democrat-imposed economic misery and national decline. As Ronald Reagan proclaimed in winning the presidency in 1980 -- and winning Massachusetts for a Republican for the first time in 52 years -- We can "Make America Great Again."

The Obama years have been worse even that the Carter years, so the stage is set not only for a Republican national victory but victory in Massachusetts once again for the Republican presidential contender.

To do our part in the campaign to win Massachusetts for the Republican presidential candidate we're starting now with a Reagan Victory 2016 Rally fundraiser and Reagan-style BBQ. President Reagan enjoyed many a BBQ at his beloved Rancho del Cielo in the Santa Barbara hills.

What Reagan did in 1980 Charlie Baker did in 2104, won the top job on the ballot by getting more votes than the Democrat.

We can do it again!

Come enjoy the BBQ -- pulled pork, ribs, Southern Fried Chicken and all the fixin's.

Hear how Charlie Baker won and how we can win in 2016 from those who helped fashion Charlie's victory and who won as he did -- with a great GET OUT THE VOTE campaign.

Everyone who wants a Republican president in 2017 is invited.

RONALD REAGAN WON MASSACHUSETTS TWICE! WE CAN DO IT 2016!

President Reagan has a message for all Massachusetts Republicans!

Posted by Lower Cape Republicans on Friday, August 28, 2015

YOU ARE INVITED: LOWER CAPE REAGAN VICTORY IN 2016 BBQ + RALLY, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, EASTHAM ELKS LODGE, 3:30 TO 6:30

Announcing the launch of the drive to win Massachusetts for the Republican presidential candidate in November 2016.

What do we need to win? More votes than the Democrat.

Key to winning: A massive person-to-person GET OUT THE VOTE mobilization all across Massachusetts to get people out to cast their votes on Election Day for our Republican nominee for President..

We Lower Cape Cod Republican committees are starting now to raise the money to help pay for what we are determined will be winning GOTV campaigns in our five towns.

Click on picture below to enlarge

Reagan flyer 10-1.jpg

The five Republican town committees of Brewster, Chatham, Eastham, Harwich and Orleans have banded together to raise money to help win the November 2016 elections in Massachusetts for the Republican nominee for president of the United States.

We are kicking off our GET OUT THE VOTE drive with a Reagan Style BBQ &Victory 2016 Rally Fundraiser on Sunday, September 20th. Everyone who wants a Republican victory in November 2016 is invited.

Why are we singling out President Reagan heading into the 2016 elections? Because there is no better person to be our inspiration for 2016.

Think of it: In 1980 Ronald Reagan surged to victory in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a state that had been solidly Democrat for President since 1928. That's 52 years of Democrat dominance!

But he did it, not once, but twice. What a model for 2016!

As Reagan said in his 1980 campaign, we can "Make America Great Again." The nation's leadership has led us astray, but we can become the "shining city upon a hill" once again.

A Reagan Revolution it was called: 'We the People' tell the government what to do; it doesn't tell us. 'We the People' are the driver; the government is the car."

Our Republican presidential nominee, whoever he or she is, will face much the same situation as Reagan did in 1980, indeed, even worse: Years of Democratic failures in foreign affairs, a stagnant economy and weak job growth, hordes of illegal immigrants crossing our unattended borders, a more dangerous world with Obama enabling Iran, a weakened military and a disheartened, confused and fearful people.

People are fed up and don't want the equivalent of a third term of Obama. Republicans have great candidates and people are ready for change, ready to have faith in the future once again. The stage is set for a Republican victory, a revolution - even in Massachusetts. It's time to bring optimism back. 'Why not another "Morning in America"?

Who thought Reagan could win Massachusetts once, let alone twice. Our goal in 2016 is to do what Reagan did - win Massachusetts for the Republican nominee.

What we do on the Lower Cape is vital for victory in Massachusetts for our Republican presidential nominee and locally for our congressional candidate, our Sheriff of Barnstable County and our state senate, state representative and county candidates.

Is Barnstable County important? In 2014 when Charlie Baker put an end to eight years of Democratic tax and spend, incompetence and corruption, Barnstable County's margin for Charlie constituted 26% of his statewide winning margin. (And Charlie showed that a Republican victory statewide for the top job is indeed possible.)

To help us do what we need to do we are asking for contributions of $50 per person for this event. Kids 12 and under are free.

To really help out, we ask those who can to join the Reagan Victory 2016 Circle with a minimum contribution of $500. Call your town's contact person whose name and phone number is set out at the end of this article.

Whatever you can contribute will help us build a winning campaign and for that we are grateful. If you are from one of the five towns of Brewster, Chatham, Eastham, Harwich and Orleans, under our joint agreement, your contribution will be credited to your town and your Republican committee will receive the full net benefit from the contributions made by people of its town. For example, a Brewster contribution will benefit Brewster. If Brewster has the most in contributions, the Brewster RTC will get the most in net revenue. So each town will reap the benefit of getting its people to our Reagan Victory 2016 BBQ!

While our focus on winning in November 2016 is serious business, our Reagan style BBQ will be fun and good eating. We'll have plenty of BBQ, ribs, Southern fried chicken and all the fixin's from award-winning chef Russ Swart of the Marconi Beach Restaurant. Russ has been starred on Boston TV food shows for his speciality ribs and Southern Fried Chicken. (The Reagan presidential library had its own Reagan style BBQ last weekend, like the BBQs the President used to have at his beloved Rancho del Cielo in Santa Barbara.) The Elks Lodge has excellent facilities and plenty of parking. It's about five minutes up Route 6 from the Orleans rotary. For an alternate scenic route off Route 6, click here.

We plan on showing some Reagan highlights on video and will make some Reagan country sounds with our country (and Irish) band.

Our BBQ will be just four days after the second Republican presidential debate. We are inviting representatives of all the leading Republican presidential candidates to come and make their pitches. After that, we will hold our Presidential Republican candidate straw vote; everyone attending will be given a ballot and a chance to vote.

There will be plenty of political talk and we hope you leave convinced that our goal of carrying the state for our Republican presidential nominee is not just whistling in the wind.

Campaigns are much about talk, but what counts is who comes to the polling place and votes. Every vote in Eastham or Brewster is as important as a vote in Boston or Lawrence. Our job as Republican town committees is straightforward: Maximize the vote for our Republican candidates.

We ask that you RSVP as soon as you can (but by September 17th, for sure) by calling 508 945 2150 or emailing macton3773@aol.com to let us know you're coming so we can get name tags done in advance to save time on check-in and have the right amounts of BBQ ready to go.

Please mail your check (personal checks only) made out to "Reagan Victory 2016" to CRTC, PO Box 408, North Chatham, MA 02650 or deliver it at the door, BUT be sure to RSVP by calling 508 945 2150 or emailing macton3773@aol.com as soon as you can.

Click on the link below get a copy of the Reagan flyer shown above with all the details on the back of the flyer.

Reagan Victory in 2016 - 10.pdf

Let's make this kickoff rally a big success. Bring a friend or two. Send the flyer linked above to as many people as you can. It will be fun and worthwhile.

Think positive! We can win Massachusetts in 2016. If we can do that, we will have a Republican in the White House on January 20, 2017, for sure.

For information, call 508 945 2150 or any of the RTC officers listed below, whether about joining the Reagan Victory 2016 Circle or anything else.

Thanks for helping provide the resources we need to GET OUT THE VOTE in November 2016.

CARLY FIORINA IS BRIGHT, CAPABLE, EXPERIENCED AND COMMUNICATES FABOULOUSLY WELL.

Carly Fiorina shone brightly on debate night last week and has suddenly caught the attention of a lot of people who don't pay that much attention to politics. She is immensely knowledgeable and is ready to take a question on anything. In this clip of about 4 minutes Katie Couric quizzes Carly about global warming. Her performance is brilliant, polite, friendly and devastating -- for Kouric. "She didn't know what hit her."

David French over at the National Review made an interesting comparison of the great session Ted Cruz had on the same subject with Carly's (both with Katie Couric), contrasting the two approaches.

Carly and Ted are two strong conservatives, both are articulate, straightforward and truthful. Both can serve the nation well in virtually any capacity.

CARLY FIORINA RISES.

Carly Fiorina shone in the Fox News debate of the seven Republican candidates with low poll numbers.

She's ready for prime time.

THE DEBATE SCORE CARD: WHO DID WELL, WHO DIDN'T DO SO WELL?

It's just about 11 months to the Republican convention in Cleveland, so there's a lot of ground to be covered.

Public interest is intense, as evidenced by the record 24 million who tuned in for the first Republican primary debate.

A mini-debate among the seven excluded from the BIG DEBATE was easily won by Carly Fiorina. By the time of the next debate she may well have moved into the top ten and be in the BIG DEBATE.

Breitbart.com has issued its report card, with grades ranging from A to F:

First Republican Debate Scorecard

Thursday night’s Fox News debate featured a bevy of explosive moments, several problematic gaffes, and a binder full of opposition ads for Hillary Clinton, as debate moderators grilled Republican 2016 presidential candidates with alacrity.

Without further ado, here are the debate grades for each candidate:

Donald Trump: F (if you hate Trump)/A (if you love Trump)/F (if you’re indifferent). Poll frontrunner Donald Trump clearly took the brunt of the heat during the evening. But the very fact that the moderators seemed so pleased to bruise him – combined with the punch-throwing at Trump by other candidates – forestalled what could have been a serious campaign to take him out of the running.

From Bret Baier’s opening question, obviously directed at Trump, about whether anyone would run as a potential third party candidate, to Megyn Kelly’s question about Trump’s alleged sexism, Trump attracted flak like a magnet. Trump looked like a victim, not like an aggressor, and while his policy answers may have been weak tea, his supporters could attribute that weakness to the gang tackle, rather than to the weakness of the candidate himself.

Trump got off a few great Trumpisms. “I fully understand,” he smacked at Baier when Baier tried to drive home the point that Trump could sink the party’s hopes with a third party run. When Kelly asked him about calling women “fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals,” Trump responded, “Only Rosie O’Donnell.” He then added, “I think the big problem this country has is being politically correct.” This is red meat for conservatives.

By the same token, Trump’s leftist positions and ideological incoherence were exposed. He essentially endorsed single-payer health care in Canada, before swiveling to say that state restrictions on insurance should be ended. He said his friends in the Border Patrol had told him about the Mexican government’s involvement in illegal immigration, then called the government “stupid” when asked for specific evidence. Not strong stuff.

CARLY FIORINA DISPLAYS CONFIDENCE, INTELLIGENCE AND UNDERSTANDING IN THE FOX NEWS HOT SEAT.

There is only one business leader currently contending for the Republican nomination for President and that is Carly Fiorina. (Donald Trump may get in the hunt.)

Recently, Ms. Fiorina took the "Center Seat" on the Fox News show Special Report with Bret Baier. The show is interviewing each of the Republican candidates and this week Ms. Fiorina had her chance to shine. And shine she did. (The video is about 17 minutes.)

Very impressive.

HONOR ABRAHAM LINCOLN SUNDAY, APRIL 12, 3 PM. CHATHAM VFW. IN THIS HISTORIC WEEK, THE CIVIL WAR ENDED AND LINCOLN WAS MURDERED FOR ENDING SLAVERY.

This event is open to all who want to honor our greatest president in the most momentous week of his life and in the life of the nation in those times.

150 years ago, on April 9th Lee surrendered to Lincoln, effectively ending the Civil War.
Joy and thanks to God were seen and heard everywhere. Here's what the New York Times had to say. Here is what we said.

Joy turned to sorrow when the world learned that the President had been shot while attending a play and died the next day, April 15th.

We will be commemorating these two events between the two dates, on Sunday, April 12, at the Chatham VFW, 150 Geo. Ryder Rd, at 3 p.m.

Joining us to celebrate the life of the first Republican president will be State Representative David T. Vieira of Falmouth, born himself on Lincoln's Birthday. State Representative Tim Whelan, who himself served in the armed forces of the United States, will also be joining us.

Slavery had existed in America for over 250 years before Lincoln eliminated it for millions with the Emancipation Proclamation and getting the Congress to adopt the 13th Amendment to the Constitution ending slavery forever. Special guest Allen Rodney Waters of Mashpee, who has roots in the slaver territory of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, will tell us about an extraordinary, self-educated young man who escaped from slavery in the Eastern Shore and became a friend and confident of President Lincoln.

Frederick_Douglasin Britain 1845-47.jpg

Frederick Douglass as a young man (about 29)in Britain

We will be reminded how cruel slavery was. It had existed in Massachusetts for over 150 years before being eliminated by the Massachusetts Constitution written by John Adams in 1780.

There will be over 20 door prizes to be won by attendees, many of them Lincoln-related. Music. Patriotic singing. Light refreshments. Cash bar. Tributes to President Lincoln. Political networking chat of 1865 and 2015! Donations of $40 accepted at the door.

Chatham Republicans have been honoring President Lincoln for the past three years coinciding with the 150th anniversary of his presidency and the Civil War. This, of course, is the last, climactic end of the four year observance.

All welcome. Please join us in honoring our great president.
